The Tosa, also known as the Japanese Mastiff, is a type of Japanese warrior dog that can reach 200 pounds in weight and pull loads much heavier than that. According to the American Kennel Club, the hound's powerful body and jaws can pull up to 3,000 pounds. If properly trained, these hounds are affectionate and gentle, but their very presence can inspire fear. According to BBC News, certain countries, notably the UK, have banned the dog because of its propensity for violence. However, Bill Lambert of the Kennel Club stressed that just because a breed was created for fighting doesn't automatically make it dangerous.
